Vår dotter, Lila, som vid denna tidpunkt var 6 månader fick en bok av sin morfar. I boken fanns ett mystiskt brev. Boken är en samlingsvolym med berättelser om riddare och riddarskapets dygder. En komprimerad version av Don Quixote finns med bla och även en historia av Paul Féval som handlar om en riddar Jeannin. Vår dotters morfar hintade i brevet att vi skulle vara släkt med denna riddare och att berättelsen inte var ett fiktivt verk. Brevet avslutades med “Ibland ligger fiktionen närmare verkligheten.” Vi gav oss ut på en resa på jakt efter riddaren , men resan blev snarare en inre alkemisk upptäcktsresa. “    /Lisa Jeannin och Rolf Schuurmans.    Solve et Coagula betyder att upplösa och sammanföra; det är ett latinskt maxim inom alkemi, vars praktiska utövning kallas för den spagyriska konsten.    Alkemi som teori och praktik har misstolkats genom årtusenden, och har i vulgäruppfattning reducerats till misslyckade framställanden av guld och elixir för evigt liv. Den sanna alkemin har traditionellt sysslat med noggranna observationer av transformativa processer i allt levande; den har sökt kartlägga den röda tråden som håller ihop de mest skilda manifestationer av liv från minsta insekt till en planet. Alkemin i både dess historiska och nuvarande form, som fortfarande utövas och utvecklas på många platser i världen, drivs av en teori om att allt som existerar är ETT, en slags “unified field theory” som även ligger till grund för merparten av forskning inom den moderna fysiken. På det sättet närmar sig alkemin en samtida uppfattning om världens beskaffenhet och är därmed återigen aktuell idag.    Konstnären Lisa Jeannin, tillsammans med maken och partnern Rolf Schuurmans, tillhör några av Sveriges få utbildade och dedikerade utövare av den spagyriska konsten. De skapar elixir, en slags medicin som distilleras ur en mängd olika mineraler, växter och metaller, under hundratals olika tidsvariabler i harmoni med naturen och de synliga planeterna. De bryter ner substanser till beståndsdelar, av vilka de skapar nya substanser. Elixirens syfte är att väcka de olika livskrafter som finns latent i varje människa, för att uppnå transcendens och djupare utveckling.    Samma princip, solve et coagula, ligger i grund för hela deras konstnärskap. Intuitiva storytellers, Jeannin och Schuurmans hämtar olika beståndsdelar ur både den personliga och allmänna historien, sin vardag, filosofi, religion, psykologi och vetenskap, och blandar ihop ett konstärligt elixir i form av abstrakta filmer, symbolladdade objekt och mystiska performance. De bjuder in betraktaren till en värld fylld av mysticism, mirakel och ödmjukhet inför allt som vi ännu inte vet, men ibland anar. Jeannin och Schuurmans iscensätter ett laddat möte med det okända, och de gör det med besked. I utställningen på galleriet möts vi av ett stort antal gåtfulla objekt i brons, presenterade i strikt planetär ordning, av sju nybryggda elixir samt av en delvis animerad spelfilm, tonsatt av konstnärernas dotter Lila. All elektrisk belysning är ersatt av levande ljus. På vernissagedagen utför de ett performance där alla som önskar får ta del av elixiren i en noga uttänkt ritual.    Lisa Jeannin, född 1972 i Uppsala, är utbildad vid Konsthögskolan i Malmö. Rolf Schuurmans, född 1972 i Oss, Holland, är utbildad vid Konsthögskolan i Tilburg. Konstnärerna bor i Hakebo, Småland. Our daughter, Lila,  who was at this time 6 months old,  recieved a book from her grandfather. Inside the book was a curious letter. The book was a collection of fairy tales about knights and chivalery. A short version of Don Quixote was included in this book but also a story by Paul Féval about a knight called Jeannin. Our daughters grandfather hinted at the possibility that  we might be related to this knight and that the story was in fact not a work of fiction. Sometimes fiction is more true than facts the letter ended. We started a journey in search for the knight, but it  actually turned out to be more of an inner alchemical journey of discovery”.    /Lisa Jeannin & Rolf Schuurmans   Solve et coagula means to dissolve and merge; it is a Latin maxim in alchemy, whose practical application is named spagyrics.    The theory and practice of alchemy have been misinterpreted throughout the millennia; the vulgar understanding of it had reduced all alchemy to failed production of gold and the elixir of eternal life. The true alchemy has traditionally dealed with careful observations of the transformative processes in all living things; it has sought to follow the common thread that holds together the most diverse manifestations of life from the smallest insect to a visible planet. Alchemy, in both its historical and current form, which is still practiced and developed in many places in the world, is driven by a theory that everything that exists is one, a kind of a unified field theory which is also the basis for the majority of research in the modern physics. In this way, alchemy approaches the contemporary understanding of the nature of the world, and is thus once again relevant today.   Artist Lisa Jeannin, along with her husband and partner Rolf Schuurmans, are some of Sweden's very few trained and dedicated practitioners of the art of spagyrics. They create elixirs, a kind of medicine that is distilled from a variety of minerals, plants and metals, with hundreds of different time variables, in harmony with nature and the visible planets. They break down substances into elements of which they create new substances; the purpose of the elixirs is to evoke the different life forces laying dormant in every human being,  to achieve transcendence and evolve.   The same principle, solve et coagula, determines the foundation of Jeannin and Schuurmans’ entire artistic oeuvre.  Intuitive storytellers, Jeannin and Schuurmans take different elements from both personal and general history, everyday life, philosophy, religion, psychology and science, and mix an artistic elixir in the form of semi-abstract films, symbolics objects and mysterious performances. They invite the viewer into a world full of mysticism, miracles and humility before all things that we do not yet know, but sometimes can sense. Jeannin and Schuurmans stage a charged encounter with the unknown, and they do it with a vengeance. In the exhibition at the gallery we are faced by a large number of mysterious objects in bronze, presented according to a strict planetaric order; the seven freshly brewed elixirs,  and a partially animated feature film, with darc ambient music composed by the artists's daughter Lila. All electrical lighting has been replaced by candles during the entire duration of the show.  On the opening night, the artists will perform a ritual during which all consenting visitors may taste and experience the power of the different elixirs.    Lisa Jeannin, born in 1972 in Uppsala, was educated at the Malmö Art Academy. Rolf Schuurmans, born in 1972 in Oss, the Netherlands, studied at the Tilburg Art Academy. The artists live in Hakebo, Smaland. Parallell to the exhibition at the gallery, the artists will participate in the group show Collected Works! 30 years with the Maria Bonnier Dahlin Foundation at Bonniers Konsthall, Stockholm. The artists’ latest public art project, Philosopher’s Stone, will be unveiled in Helsingborg, Pålsjöbadens Kallbadhus on June 2nd 2016.

Yesterday the doubble spagyric tincture of Guayusa I made was completed and it is a very good dreamcatcher! Deeper than the tea!
Legend has it, that the Kichwa tribe prayed for a plant that could help them connect to the dream world. When they awoke in the morning, there was a guayusa plant in their hands. The tea was often drank the night before a hunt, so that the hunter could have a vision of whether it would be successful. Producing an alerted dream state, the Kirachi were said to be able to control their actions in the dreams.

Workshop in Spagyria

This summer I will teach a beginners course in the Art of Spagyria, Plant based alchemy at Yantra AyurVeda in Adelöv, Sweden.  You will learn how to make spagyric Elixirs and how to work in the internal and external laboratory guided by the Light of Nature. With me is Susanne Montelius that will guide the inner alchemical exercises. We will distill essential oil and perform other operations to complete a spagyric elixir and anchor the knowledge in ourselves with internal exercises, guided meditations, activating chakras, work closely with plants with heart based perception, develop our intuition, going into alchemical theory as well as practice! In the end, you will come home with several elixirs, hydrosols, an alchemical logbook that you created yourself and hopefully a passion for the healing power of nature. The course is held in two modules, one of which intends to take place in July and the second in September. You will live in Gåvotomta, Yantra Ayurveda Center in Adelöv. It will be our headquarters, but we're also working in nature and in Alchemillas Apothecary in Hakebo. There is room for 10 participants. Ayurvedic healing vegetarian food included. I just want to check if there is interest. Soon, more information and registration will follow!

Lisa Jeannin is an artist with a passion for Alchemy and plants.

She makes Spagyric elixirs at Alchemillas Apotek. The word Spagyria originates from the greek spao and gyria which means the separate and recombine.
In short the alchemist separates the soul, spirit and body of the herb. Through several operations such as distillation and calcination the parts are in the end reunited again in an exalted form to work on the soul, spirit and body of the person ingesing the elixir in a deeply initiating way. This process is called Conciously Assisted Evolution. The intelligence of nature itself is at the centre of this practice.

Lisa studied at Alkemiska Akademin and at the School of Evolutionary Herbalism and is currently a student of Ayurveda.

Du kommer att få lära dig hur man gör Spagyriska Elixir och hur man kan arbeta i det inre och yttre laboratoriet vägledd av Naturens Ljus . Cleavers is a humble little forestplant that clings to other plants and everybody she meets like velcro. Native Americans call Cleavers Deermedicine. Deers like to sleep on  a bed of cleavers. The Deertype is often tall, slender, with prominent  joints , sensitive  and nervous just as Cleavers. I see it that the Deertype has antlers like cosmic antennae that pick up on everything, highly intuitive and sensitive folk. A typical Vataconstitution and is suited for Vatas , people with high Vata or people entering the Vata stage of the lifecycle.
This herb is slightly cooling and get´s the bodys inner ocean flowing. It supports the immunesystem, kidneys and urinarytract, the lymphatic system and gets stagnant chi – the lifeforce flowing again where it has accumulated and become stagnant in hot spots. It is moistening for dry tissues, grounding and mildly calming to the nerves.
Cleavers correspond to the Water Element and reflects Venus. The inner waters are our emotions and feelings. Venus rules the kidneys and has to do with all kinds of relationships. . This is where Cleavers can help us to find balance. In loverelationships where one is a Cleaver : clinging, and the other is taking a distance , this plant can be miraculous.
Cleavers is teaching us how to go with the flow, flexibility, how to relax and let go and release what no longer serves us. Addictive patterns, fixed ideas, dependancies and all type of relationships that is preventing us from being free.

Alchemy is a systematic spirituality that brings one into harmony with the elements, the planets, and the source of creation.
There are three main branches of alchemy: the traditional western esoteric system, ayurveda, and Taoist Chinese medicine. Each branch is encyclopedic and extends deep into the mysteries of nature and healing. But they are all branches reaching out of the same trunk with its roots deep in nature.
Alchemy provides an energetic cosmology, or map of the universe. This natural philosophy shows the energetic architecture from which all things are composed of.
Spagyrics is the practical application of the cosmology of alchemy. One is theory, the other is practice. Spagyrics is a process of creating philosophical medicines that are made in harmony with the nature of the substance being worked with- mainly minerals, metals and plants. The word spagyrics comes from two Greek words “Spao” meaning to separate, and “gyro” meaning to combine. Thus, a certain natural substance is separated into its principle components, exhalted or concentrated, and recombined into a higher state of being. A true spagyricist not only purifies and evolves a piece of matter, but is purifying and evolving themselves with it. This is what makes alchemy a true spiritual system, that everything done in the external is also done in the internal and thus the medicine is embodied.

Inonotus obliquus, commonly known as chaga mushroom (a Latinisation of the Russian term 'чага'), is a fungus in the family Hymenochaetaceae. It is parasitic on birchtrees.  I. obliquus grows in birch forests of Russia, Korea, Eastern and Northern Europe, northern areas of the United States, in the North Carolina mountains and in Canada.

The chaga mushroom is considered a medicinal mushroom in Russian and Eastern European folk medicine; medical evidence is emerging.
